Get Organized and Stay Organized – How to Get Rid of Clutter to Be a More Productive Entrepreneur

Your home and office are a reflection of who you are, so don’t let clutter get in the way of putting your best foot forward and being a productive and successful entrepreneur. Staying organized is a matter of knowing what to keep and what to throw away, being aware of how to file and store the items you need to keep and have access to, and being able to keep the clutter from ever creeping up on you in the future. I will share some examples of exactly how this can be done.

You may have been reluctant in the past to even start getting rid of your mess because you were not sure of what to keep and what to throw away. It is best to put things into three different categories as you begin to sort through papers, clothes, and other things. One group is for the things you know you want and need to keep. This would include clothing that is still good and fits you, and important paperwork. The next group is for the things you will be throwing or giving away, such as clothing that is worn out or has not fit you for more than one year. The third group is for things you must take a second look at, such as books you have not read for more than a year and may read again, and souvenirs from places you have visited in years past.

Storing your belongings is an important part of the decluttering process. Once you have decided which things you want and need to keep, find a way to properly store them so that you can access them easily and safely. This will include purchasing the right kind of boxes and other storage containers so that you will be able to find what you need in a matter of minutes. Dividing your closets into sections for the different types of clothing you have will be a good idea. Utilizing areas of your home such as the attic, under the stairs, and closet areas will also help to keep you organized.

Finally, it is crucial to keep the clutter from coming back again. Make a concentrated effort to put everything into its proper location immediate after you bring it home, and do not bring anything into your home that is not absolutely necessary. This will keep the clutter from returning to your life.
